Using WILL / WILL fayyadamuu

Will is used to express a future intention or prediction. It is often used for decisions made at the moment of speaking. The form is will + simple verb. / Will yaada ykn tilmaama fulduraa ibsuuf fayyada. Yeroo baayyee murtoo yeroo dubbannuutti murteessinuuf oola. Bocni isaa will + gochima salphaa dha.

(a) I will help you with your homework. (A spontaneous offer) / Hojii manaa keetiin si gargaara.

(b) It will rain tomorrow. (A prediction) / Boru ni rooba.

Contraction: I will = I'll, you will = you'll, he will = he'll, she will = she'll, it will = it'll, we will = we'll, they will = they'll.

Negative: will not = won't.

Using BE GOING TO / BE GOING TO fayyadamuu

Be going to is used to express a prior plan or intention. The decision was made before the moment of speaking. The form is am/is/are + going to + simple verb. / Be going to karoora ykn yaada duraan qophaa'e ibsuuf fayyada. Murtoon sun yeroo dubbannuun dura murtaa'e. Bocni isaa am/is/are + going to + gochima salphaa dha.

(c) I am going to study tonight. (I planned this earlier). / Halkan kana qubachuuf deema.

(d) They are going to travel next month. (They have a plan). / Ji'a dhufu imaluuf deemu.
